Quotable Quotes:

From: Frederick Camingal

“I've always believed that the Filipino can... we just need to raise awareness and I know that there are a lot of people out there whom maybe are disenchanted but not discouraged of the situation in the Philippines.

I am elated that this grassroots campaign is really starting and moving forward! wohoo... :)

Sorry but I cannot attend the volunteer orientation due to the fact that I am based here in Toronto, Canada. But rest assured that in whatever means I could be of help, I would be supporting this worthy cause.

I know that we Filipinos can aspire for a better and brighter future if we just stand our ground and stop the trapos from running our nation. The Filipino can! God bless.

From: Fred Z. Mabasa

I settle in our place in Kalibo, Aklan after my retirement working in the United States. I am now a dual citizen and enjoying again my Filipino Citizen. Being a fence sitter in philippine politics I was dismayed to see our unprincipled politician and the gov't wasteful spending and the present situation of our country. I thought I will enjoy the quality of life I sought for in our country, yet what I see again is the deterioration of peace and order and rampant corruption in the gov't. I worked in the National Food Authority for 13 years and the New Society Era where corruption was more or less eliminated.

I am very much impressed by the noble intentions of Nicanaor Perlas and we have the same vision for the country as a whole, and am very much willing to offer my help if he will pursue his candidacy in my province.

I am writing to inquire whether you have a campaign strategy to reach out-of-country voters. I am currently based in Canada, and would be very willing to volunteer in creating awareness of your campaign abroad. Based on the amount of registrants for "Absentee Voting" in Canada, I believe it is very much worth your time to develop a campaign strategy addressing overseas workers - dual citizens and all.
My thanks - and much luck in your campaign!

Mr. President,

I looked immediately at your website as soon as I read the papers about you. You sound and look refreshing and dynamic; I see a lot of promise in you to become our next president. I want to be part of your victory. Like you, I have been working quietly in my little niche among abused women and street children; I feel I have to work in a larger scope. A lot of groups have espoused change and moral transformation in our politics and governance; but we see the same people with ulteior motives: Wolves in sheep skin.

Just promise that when you win, you will use your power for the good, you will not be arrogant; and you will stay grounded. In your journals I see that you have worked for the greater glory of God. We don't have to pronounce our faith; our works and accomplishments speak for what we believe in.

When I read about Nicanor Perlas and his intention to run for presidential office in 2120, I feel very much hopeful for our people and our country. I don't know much about this guy but his name ring a bell in my ears... The fact that he has done and is doing good for our country as a private person, I believe he could do more better things for our people and our country.

I hope and pray that his cause and all his good intentions will be supported by our people and those who will be working with him in the campaign if ever he'd finally be one of the presidential candidates. Our people are tired of this "TRAPOS" who are only after of their own personal and greedy interests.

Our organization, Kinaiyahan Foundation, Inc. (KFI), an environmental NGO was just very new then (late 80s), when we invited Mr. Perlas to be our Resource Person during an Environmental Forum which we organized. We were honored by his presence.

Normally, NGOs like us do not endorse political candidates, but perhaps, this time, we can convince our BOT to strongly endorse and campaign ( only to a limited extent though, given our limited resources) for him. But we will try to do the best we can to support him in our own little ways, especially that we work currently with Indigenous Peoples' (IPs) communities.

In case, you have a trip around Davao City, please let us know. We will try our best to organize a forum with our contacts, mainly schools, local leaders, NGOs and POs.

We wish Mr. Perlas and your group the BEST.

Oo nga:
*Tayong lahat ang sagot!*

Sana, magkaisa ang mas nakakarami (kundi man tayong lahat!) sa pagpili ng daan patungo sa tunay na pagbabago!

Hi Mr. Perlas!

I just read an article about you in the Phil. Daily Inquirer. I honestly don't know or heard about you, but from what I peruse is that you are indeed an alternative candidate to mostly trapos out there and your record speaks for itself. I'll try to get to know more about you and your platforms for good governance. I myself and the countless people that I know of are tired of politicians who only look after their own self interests, frustrated of a justice system with double standards, and disappointed with our government institutions whom contributes to the deterioration of the ideals and values of our society. If you are indeed a candidate who will espouse change for the betterment of our country, you have my vote and support... and I promise to be one of your voice in the communities I move around in.

Good day sir,i just visit your web and i watched the videos, you give us the best alternative this coming election. You have a big chance sir, i am seaman and now i am here in Denmark,i wish to share to you some suggestion that i hope as the next president must be your priority in your platform of government,,JOBS..for me that is the solution of our problem, simply if most Filipinos have job, means more revenues, everybody will be educated, more buying power, low crime(tested and proven)rate or nothing at all,no corruption because no one will bargain a decent and stable job to a crime,no poverty,no rebel, and the country will prosper..sir,give also priority in research because in that way we advance, through our scientists or inventors or geniuses we can create lots of jobs.....sir,i believe that your positive attitude and positive leadership will bring about positive change in our country,so, i wish more power to you and,i will support you.......Godbless you

Dear Mr Perlas

I agree with you, change is necessary for our country to progress. The first change has to be in the thought and the consideration we give our electoral process. That process today is very rational - as is expected in a democracy, people vote according to their interests. They vote for the person that pays them enough for their vote to buy their next meal; they vote for the candidate that promises them a government contract, or a permit to conduct business, or some other favor. You are asking people to vote for you, apart from those interests they've identified. Please give us some idea how you are going to make our lives better.

Thank you.

Nikki, people power sentiment III
written by raoul reyes, September 06, 2009
Hi Nikki,

Traditional politics banks on money machinery, and if need be goons, guns, more gold.
While you wish to give the Filipinos new politics based on merit, it is so hard to comprehend, verbose even for the internet savvy. The majority of Filipinos cannot comprehend your message.

The message of Noynoy is love. Love for country, people and truth. Let me relate how I watched ANC report one late registrant in the Middle East. He didnt believe his vote mattered anymore. Until the changes in the Philippines happened. Suddenly, he valued his vote and my guess is he is also voting for Noynoy.

Be a statesman. Have more faith in the good. Butch Abad isnt your trapo. Neither is Sen. Salonga. I voted for him even against Ramos and to this day I dont regret it esp after Ramos emerged as a silent backer of the RAM during Cory's term.

Help Noynoy and you will be seen as a hero like Panlilio and Padaca. They have helped the chances of Noynoy to win. Stay on the right path and also support Noynoy. Otherwise you will be forever branded as a ranting Don Quixote. History will be kind to you if you accept the will of the Filipino people now.

Recognize that democracy is about representing the majority after being chosen by the majority. Our spiritual experience of August 5 and the blessing of Noynoy should make it clear that God is blessing the Filipino people again. Recognize it as all truth-loving and patriotic Filipinos now do. Please support Noynoy instead of going your chosen way against the tide.

"....A consensus was reached: to reform a country almost totally swallowed by the "ogres" of the system; is a gigantic task. So we go back to basics, our roots. It's like instead cleaning the neighborhood, we start within your own house. And if we could persuade neighbors to do the same, perhaps we might be able to collectively cure the "Cancer of Filipino Society" or forever perish as a people.

I totally agree with this. Mr. Perlas seems to be very logical and has his heart in the right place. I read about him in the Inquirer and even paused to consider him in the next elections. Sad to say, in Philippine politics, one really needs money and the machinery to be able to launch an effective national campaign. Bakit hindi niyo lang lang po i-offer ang sarili niyo para matulungan si Noynoy? Support Noynoy and share with him your ideas for a a better Philippines. He may not be perfect, but he is sincere, has integrity and has no record of corruption. That's a good enough start for me. Noynoy is just one person. We should all do our share in helping the country move forward.

Good luck!

beyond hero
written by rina, September 24, 2009
I believe in Nicanor Perlas and the kind of reform that he represents. The complexities of traditional politics is beyond the issues of money, goons and machineries. It not enough to have a moral leader. We need leaders who have strong visions for our society. We have been demanding far too less from our leaders and now is the time for us to grow more critical as a society. Democracy was never meant as conformity to the sentiments of the majority. We may be a spiritual people, but for as long as we use the simplistic fatalism of religion to articulate the future of our society,I am afraid that we might never surpass the condition of smallness.

As I follow this emerging election I only wish there was something I could do to help. Yet it was accomplished because people came together out of their impulses to make a difference and to do the right thing.

Where are the plan of action for each of the Pilars
written by Anthony V., October 31, 2009
When you say platform I was expecting to see an action plan with time tables and deliverables for each of the pilars, however all i see here are general statements, if this is all you have then you are no different from the other candidates who basically has the same. The executive branch is all about execution and implementation of the laws and im interested on how you will implement each of the pillars. Each task in the implentation plan should have supporting laws if there is none then the alternative avenue you will use.

The absence of any implementation/action plan for each of the pilars puts you in the same category as the other candidates, ergo we as voters will back the people who we think has a lot to lose if he does not deliver or if he goes against his words. With regards to excess baggage, you also have some of your own which puts you in the same category with another candidate.

As voters we can only hope that all candidates we vote for can deliver on their general statements and remain true to their promise.

My comment may very well be asking too much of your time but it is essential at least for me and my clan who looks up to me for the direction they vote.

BTW - whats your stand on the following issues?

1. Capital Punishment
2. Abortion - 1st trimester; fetus quality of life; threathens the life of the mother; what stage do you recognize the existence of life.
3. Charter Change - are you for parliamentary form? unicameral; would you change the provision in the constitution that limits the ownership of natural resources to filipinos? if you do whats the proportion?
4. Pork Barrel - are you for the abolition or its retention if you are for its retention what will you change if there is any.
5. Will you actively (with targets) investigate the corruption charges of GMA; allegation of murder of Erap and Lacson
6. Political Appointments; Constitutional Appointments - are you in favor of appointing career officials; based on merits etc.
7. Climate Adoption - Whats your strategy?
8. Will you allow the entry of abortifacient drugs?

You mentioned six general statements (please dont call them platforms because they are not) of the issues you are advocating what is your direction on them?

1. Environment - Are you for total log ban and ban of fishing, hunting, trekking, eco tourism?
Our rice production generates methane that is much thicker than carbon products that worsen the greenhouse effect will you ban this also?
2. Poverty - Whats your strategy?
3. Food Security - whats your strategy?
4. Conversion of land from food producing land to houses.

Thanks,

Willie

Pagtakhan.A former president of Graduate Studies at Pamantasan ng Lungod ng Pasay and an earnest environmentalist,anti-nuclear campaigner, new energy campaigner and an aspirant for a doctorate degree in education.I have started to hear about you and the issues and sensible changes that you wish to represent for our dear republic and precious people:The Filipinos.Yes, I am ready for any social change that you have in mind for us,as long as that change is acceptable and sensible enough to satisfy common sense.I don't vote just for popularity or if a person is wealthy or demonize these attributes, but to put it fairly these are the very least things that I need as a citizen and a constituent. To me,...great intentions for a hopefull people and how to do it for them is what matters most,a very serious person for a very serious problem to a very serious office,is what makes my choice of candidate.Keep it up Mr.Perlas, and you are my possible choice for president and by the way,you can get also get the votes of all environmental NGO's in our country like:Greenpeace Phil.Haribon Foundation etc.I believe that they would likewise be happy to choose a true green presidentiable. You have to satisfy their hearts and not theyre pockets ok?Mabuhay to you!

A suggestion to your website and other links about you and your platform.
written by Malayang Pilipino, November 11, 2009
Hi, i watched you on probe just a few hours ago. Just happened to have changed the channel from a stupid comedy show i was watching, but it was worth switching. You displayed great conviction and dedication to your answers and work respectively, so i thought of learning more about you in the internet specifically on your website. However, if there is,i may have not noticed if you had these platforms posted in tagalog. The internet can be accessed pretty much by everyone in our society nowadays whether at home or in computer shops, but not all may fully understand your posted platform by heart. Please don't let this be of any offensive notion to you and to anyone reading this right now. But it would be better if every filipino active in such technology and political awareness could understand it fully(especially when spoken in our native tongue) so we could truly capture your vision as well as sincerely identifying this fellow filipino that were supporting. You have my vote sir. And i hope everyone else as well. Do not let us down if you win. We may fall into the bottomless pit of oppression if all else fails. Godbless.

2. The world is facing an impending oil crisis. How prepared is the Philippines when the day comes the world exhausted its last drop? Can we sustain a vibrant economy based solely on renewable energy?

3. You said that poverty, corruption and other social ills can be eradicated, if not fully, to a large extent, by changing people’s mindset and transforming the person within. These are lofty ideals. How fast do you think this new culture would catch on to change our economic landscape, given that not everyone is receptive to change – with some being plain apathetic and others vehemently opposed to it?

I just hope others will see the vision and the hope that after all the traditional politicians there is still light at the end of the tunnel for the Philippines. People have been saying my vote will just be wasted on a candidate with very slim chance of winning. I have countered their comments by saying that if everyone thinks that way then there will really be no chance for a person with character and vision to lead the country. You definitely have my vote and I am going to campaign for you at work and in school. God bless you.

Hope you oppose the Reproductive Health Bill
written by Leslie, December 03, 2009
I just heard you on the Harapan debate and while I was mostly impressed about your statements most especially about how well-thought out your plans if you were elected for presidency and the only one to express environmental awareness, I was quite disappointed with your very ambivalent answer towards the RHB. I know that it is not very popular to oppose the bill and might cost you votes if you oppose it but please be open to the points that I shall point out regarding the RHB.

First of all, let us establish the infallibility of the teaching that contraceptives should be used. It has long been taught by the clergy all around the world for over 40 years and thus is part of the universal magisterium. I will not go into the details of that because there have been controversies mostly to the fear of alienating many practicing Catholics. However, the Church has consistently supported that teaching.

Secondly, Catholics (which accounts for majority of the Philippine population) regard sex's purpose for both procreation AND a celebration of 2 people within the sanctity of marriage. Both conditions must be met to uphold the sacredness of the purpose that God gave it. In the eyes of the Catholic church, the only way to have sex responsibly is to meet these two conditions. If a couple is, because of some serious situation, cannot and should not have more children, the Church allows the use of Natural Family Planning and abstinence as a means of birth control. The use of contraceptives is prohibited because it prevents God's will if his will is for the couple to have more children. Many practicing Catholics have opposed this teaching because many lack a proper faith to have generosity in their love of God. Because the Catholic Church is an institution run by imperfect humans, it cannot perfectly execute the nurturing of the Catholic community's faith. The use of contraceptives is not deemed acceptable to the church in difficult situations such as when a couple can no longer support any more children, when a couple cannot control their urges or when a couple is overly burdened of controlling their urges that their marriage is at risk. All of these situations reveal a lack of LOVE for God and for each other and a very very great fear and unwillingness for sacrifice (an important concept in the Catholic Faith for redemption). As I have stated earlier in this article, a couple in true love, should be able to sustain that love even without sex. A perfect example is Mary and Joseph. Entering marriage should be done responsible and each respective party should know that they love the other enough to endure many hardships, including if they cannot engage in sexual activities.

Thirdly, what I find disagreeable with the Reproductive Health Bill the most is the teaching to age-appropriate students both natural and artificial methods of birth control. Even at 18, people are still very impressionable about their choices. People at 18 are often still very confused and have little or no convictions especially regarding their faith. Government has the obligation to provide proper education to the nation but the notion of proper education in terms of morality will never by concretized because of many opposing religious views. It is the parent's responsibility to provide for the moral education of their children. That is what RESPONSIBLE parenthood is. If parents are not responsible, the government should not interfere and "compensate" by teaching what they perceive as moral because the subject of morality is NOT absolute. Uneducated parents have the responsibility to SEEK the knowledge they need to teach their children. Government should not IMPOSE "moral" education (which includes birth control methods btw) on students because these are the children of parents who may oppose these birth control methods. when teaching the use of artificial contraceptives, you are effectively teaching a child that you CAN have sex without the intention of having a child and outside marriage; that sex can be done for the sole purpose of achieving pleasure and "loving" each other "RESPONSIBLY". Sex is a sacred activity and and by teaching artificial birth control, you are practically saying that its a tool that can be used "responsibly" for pleasure.

I thank you to have bothered to read all my points regarding the RHB. I hope that I was able to convince you to oppose the RHB.

Hi, Sir. I hope I am not late in expressing support for your campaign, given the disqualification decision of the COMELEC. I hope you continue your appeal for reconsideration and I'm hoping that they reverse their decision.

I had wavered in my decision to support your campaign because of the "overwhelming surge" of a scion of a political clan. I had to re-read your articles on "Winnability" to get inspiration. I am now, more than ever, convinced that you deserve the votes of Filipinos who truly love their country. I am done with choosing the "lesser evil". I want the real thing, the good choice, to win. I will campaign more actively for you and use your arguments on "Winnability" to convince people about the new politics.

I support the RH bill, and it is good that you corrected your stand when it was pointed out by Cheche Lazaro that RH Bill does not condone abortion. The RH Bill is a step toward a more responsible citizenship and earth-stewardship. I hope you leave the religious shepherding to the churches and stand apart from the tradpols who do not know what separation of church and state means.

I reviewed the taped interviews of Dr. Perlas on reproductive health and foreign debt and have follow-up questions. No, I disagree totally with the Catholic Church's position on the reproductive health bill, and will vote for a candidate who supports it. I won't vote for a candidate who takes the middle ground or decides to sit on the fence on this crucial issue.

The Church says modern family planning methods like the use of a condom cause abortion and should be banned. It only approves of natural family planning methods which, based on women's experience, are largely useless and ineffective. It also wants a ban on information about and access to modern family planning methods because these cause abortion and are illegal. What is Dr. Perlas' stand on the use of modern family planning methods? I would seriously suggest that Dr. Perlas get a copy of the actual reproductive health bill under deliberation in Congress so he can make an informed stand on it.

Regarding his stand on foreign debt, there is a law, still in effect, that mandates an automatic appropriation of a fixed percentage of the annual national budget to foreign debt payments. Will he allow this law to remain in effect?

Also, a review of non-crony foreign debts will show terms and conditions imposed by international financial institutions on us that are onerous and place the Filipino nation in a perpetual state of indebtedness. What will he do about this?

Sir, I would just like to express my admiration and respect for your decision to run for the Presidency. I still believe that the COMELEC's decision is unfounded and I hope this will be reversed.

Admittedly, though I was aware of your campaign, much of my attention was on the other Presidentiables since they stood out during the debates. I'm a newly registered voter and I was considering voting for one of them, simply because I believed that my choice was limited to who the lesser evil was. However, it was only recently that I started reading blogs about you, which led me to your platform. But what really got my attention was the article you wrote about winnability.

Sir, I am glad that some Filipinos can still think this way and not fall under the traps of the common notion of winnability. It gives me hope that if only all Filipinos could grasp this idea, then perhaps we'd all be better off, even by just a little. And, Sir, it inspires me that a man like you can stand up for his beliefs and fight for them, given how corrupt and dirty the country's politics is. It inspires me that a man with integrity and compassion is running for the highest office in the land not for personal gain or satisfaction but out of a genuine concern for the Filipinos. I believe that a good man can still get elected President, despite all other people's misgivings.

I apologize for realizing all these things only now but I hope it is not too late for me to be able to help out. God bless you, Sir!

A word of... concern, if it could be termed that.
written by Tabris, January 21, 2010
Let me begin by stating that, like (presumably) most of those who have affixed their names to this site, I have read over your Six Pillars, and, like most of the commentators out here, I felt more than slightly euphoric over its breadth, for I have never yet seen such. I recognize that, should you succesfully implement those programs as stated in your Six Pillars, you will create here an air of accountability (among other things) that future leaders will find impossible to back off without causing a furore.

However, looking it over and over, repeatedly, one query has continually sought its pairing answer: how will you fund all these programs that you seek to implement should you become president? I do not think I'm being overly cynical with this, and I suppose this query of mine should merit nothing less than a sufficient answer.

That is all.

Global warming is a junk science. Maybe the reason why there is so much “evidence” for global warming is because the issue is potential recipient of grant money. They say the earth is warning, and every time they show evidence, it is found in “political advocacy sites” that the data is either incorrect or was manipulated. These fake evidences on climate change are warmer than it is now. Science is not done on websites, in press releases, or discussion forums. Despite knowing the difficulties of running for an electoral position without the establishment of a concrete name as compared to the others running, I admire your courage for aiming at such a goal. Your platform is really nice. However, not many Filipinos are learned enough to be able to umderstand the ideals of sustainable development. I for one, just recently learned it in a class called: science and society 10. How do you plan on making people understand SD. You seem more concrete than campiagn jingles that perpetuate about "pagtatapos sa ating kahirapan." Obviously, this is a campaign strategy, but as painful as it is to say it, it's working. These forms of campaign tap into the Filipino/ Human psyche, making people mindless zombies. I may be exagerrating; but i hope u get my point. God Bless you!

A message for the Green President
written by Danilo Pagtakhan, February 16, 2010
Dear Sir,

I believe it is most urgent this time to play the role of a hero in satisfyinbg the sentiments of the working class, since the prudence of our democarcy is once more under question from its type of fairness that can be synonymous to the one's from the communistic ideals. The arrest of 43 suspected communist members along with their decent backgrounds can be viewed as another tendency of some of our working class to go miscalculatingly extremeistic in their political beliefs.Nevertherless,I believe once more for satisfying and sound answer to tame the worrisome zeitgesit that is happening.Mabuhay to you!

written by lyka chitongco, February 20, 2010
Good day Mr. Nicanor Perlas. I’m Lyka F. Chitongco. I am a student from St. Scholastica’s College of Health Sciences Tacloban City. This coming election would be my first time to vote. I would like to ask you if what are your plans this coming election in relation to our country and your political plans concerning your preparations in winning the presidential seat. And if in case, which I hope not, you will not be able to top the election, what are still your plans?

I’m hoping for your generous reply. Thank You!

Thanks for your continued support
written by Nicanor Perlas, February 20, 2010
It is with everyone's support that I am able to stand firm and steadfast in the campaign for the presidency. It is with a positive outlook on the future of the country and with the help of everyone that we can truly end the things that had enslaved our people for so long.

I am inviting everyone to join us and be part of the campaign. Become a volunteer, help us distribute flyers, join us on Facebook, engage in creative discussions, put in your comments and ideas on how we can truly make our country better.

My campaign is also the campaign of everyone. It is the campaign to recover and raise our dignity once more as a people.

For those who asked where will we get the funds for the projects and policies in our platform the answer is that if truly we work together and corruption will be eradicated then nothing will be impossible. We can triumph if we unite together as a people.

I will try my best to send my personal answer to your comments here and send my deepest regards to you.

Thanks for your continued support!

Mabuhay kayo!

Nicanor Perlas

Hi. I'm Elena Sapnit. An Industrial Designer from UST CFAD. Just want to say thank you for all you have done: Promoting Sustainable Development in the Philippines and elsewhere. Currently, I had the time to browse through the 'platapormas' of the presidential candidates. I saw you on TV nga pala and I was really struck by what you said na "I don't need to dye my hair" Something like that. Indeed, the Elections nga naman talaga is not just a fame Popularity show nga naman. Lately I have grown weary of Electoral ads by those who do not 'practice' what the preech. Advertising can be deceiving. Anyway going back. I just read your accomplishments and other stuff that you have done (thanks to Wikipedia). By doing so, I wanted to read more about your work (hope I get more time from my utterly busy schedule of work and Focolare). I am a soul liberal fighter but am loyal in Sustainable Development by heart. Through the course of my college life, since I became an Industrial Designer, I have been amazed with the understanding of Sustainability and how it can truly shape and help everyone's lives. So reading what you have done has really left an impression to me. So again, I'd like to say Thank you talaga for everything and good luck to the elections ! Thank you thank you ! =)

Be a Part of a Bigger Change...

We Believe in You Kuya Nik...

We Love You...

Just One more Thing:

Go Kuya Nik

GOD BLESS PO

I want to go on record as endorsing Dr. Nicky Perlas for the office of President of the Republic. Nicky has worked a various field and no doubt effectively leading our County for next 6 years and beyond, during which time in our county suffering for all difficulties and frustration. He brings excellent credentials to this position, with a vast degree from information management, agriculture and years experiences.

Nicky understands the importance of keeping good public records, sincerity, transparency and good governance in dealing congenially with the public. He is honest, reliable, and willing to work the long hours needed for the highest position in our country. I believe Nicky is the person best qualified to be our next County President.
